Do you mean the adjustable pedal solution or the platform shoe approach?  ;-)

Snake leather trimming - very appropriate!

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / CSX 3041 for Sale in Austria
« on: August 27, 2013, 13:20:38 »
Thank you for this clarification, Robin. The ad does not contain any hint that the car is a replica. On the contrary, the ad indicates Dec 1965 as original registration date and continues to say: 'Unique opportunity to acquire a genuine Shelby Cobra 427 SC. VIN CSX 3041. In beautiful condition. 6 year old valuation report available. The few existing cars were auctioned in the recent years for prices averaging around 800,000 EUR.' Somewhat misleading, to put it mildly.

35
Thank you for sharing this information, Constant. Do you know the chassis number by any chance?

36
That would be very nice, Constant.

I agree that for a variety of reasons it is unfortunate if people are preoccupied with 'value', thinking of their cars as status symbols or financial investment vehicles rather than enjoying them and loving them for what they are. However, it would not be right in my view to assume such an attitude on the side of the contributors of this thread on the basis of what has been discussed here.

38
I must admit that I do not understand what exactly is being suggested in relation to the subject matter of this thread.

I think it is a modified standard MK IV. Look at the bumper beam with it's "5mph shock absorbers".

   I think so, too.
Other features suggestive of the car's being a standard Mk IV include:
   - position of fuel filler,
   - door panels,
   - head rest mounts,
   - reversing light integrated into body.
Unfortunately the pictures do not reliably show whether the nose is 'short' or 'long'.

So CSX 2570 offered by Legendary for $ 950,000 seems to be a real bargain. Well, there are the vinyl seats...

The 289 can be in your car port for a mere $950,000. No worries....

Maybe the sellers expect a particularly good price in view of the car's history and the (alleged) fact that it is almost completely original, but USD 950,000 strikes me nevertheless as a little optimistic.

You think the vinyl seats are original? [:D][:D]

   Why not? Optional equipment... ;-)

The most beautiful 427 I have seen for a long time. These clean lines without hood, side pipes, roll bar - simply gorgeous.

Well, as far as one can see on the pictures, except for the demister the car has all features of a 'true/original' lightweight, including items that are difficult to fit retroactively such as the short nose and the recessed fuel filler on the right rear fender.
