Koen, here you can make an online check with DEKRA whether your car meets the requirements for obtaining a green badge: http://www.dekra.de/en/1398. In view of your car's engine not being an EFI with G-Kat I am not overly optimistic though.

Koen:
I live in Germany. I acquired my 1987 MkIV (AK1200CH) earlier this year. It is fitted with a 302EFI and has a controlled catalytic converter which is known here as 'G-Kat' ('geregelter Katalysator'). I did not have problems with getting the green environment badge.
I was advised, however, that without the G-Kat my car would not have been eligible for the green badge. If AK1240 has a G-Kat this will be reflected in the registration papers. There are various sites in Germany where you can obtain the green badge if you show them registration papers confirming that the car is fitted with a G-Kat. I got my badge directly from the local motor vehicles registration office when I registered my car. Other bodies that issue green badges include TÜV and DEKRA (equivalents, in this respect, of the MOT in UK), automobile clubs such as the ADAC, and car repair shops.

Westcott: Congratulations on your new MkIV! I bought my MkIV (AK1200CH) in February 2011 so I am also relatively new to the MkIV community. As for the 3 options to tackle modifications as mentioned by Michael I fully agree. However, if one wants his car to remain stable or even increase in value it is probably wise to go for options 1 or 2. I myself plan to use the upcoming winter break for having the dashboard / steering column and possibly the door panels changed to MkIII style but will by all means retain the original parts.

In a German internet marketplace http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat...fterCreation=1 a Mk IV Lightweight (AKL 1411) is offered for sale at 59,000 €, which price appears to be incredibly low in view of the asking prices that could be seen for similar cars in the recent past. There are some oddities, the ad says, e.g., that the car was originally registered in 1987 while the ACOC register indicates 1992 as production year and the pictures in the ad show some features such as a 'modern' dashboard that are not typical for a Lightweight. Generally, however, I believe it is the real AKL 1411 and looking at the pictures it is in pretty good shape. Does anybody know more about this car?

Hello everybody,
In a German Cobra forum I recently came across a thread in which someone presented his newly acquired 'AC 289 Sports Car' alledgedly built by Brian Angliss. The car had an aluminium body and did indeed very much look like the AC 289 Sports which was produced by AC in the 60ies (i.e. basically a 427 with somewhat narrower hips, a 289 engine and wire wheels and without side pipes, roll bar and hood scoop).
Does anyone know whether Brian Angliss in fact built that type of car?

Hello everybody,
My Mk IV is currently being repainted. In the course of this I would like to change the emblem on the boot lid from the classical 'Cobra' emblem to the 'AC' emblem which many Mk IVs were fitted with originally (the letters 'AC' in a circle, made of chrome plated metal). Does anybody have an idea where I could get one?
My investigations in the internet have not been successful.
   Best wishes,
   Juergen

Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum. I live in Germany, in the Ruhr Area to be more specific, and since a couple of months I have been the proud owner of a Mk IV (chassis number AK1200CH). AK1200CH is not only my first AC but my first 'classic' car generally. So far, I have been very happy with it, it runs very well and I have not had any technical problems. During the coming winter break I plan to have some 'optical' changes made (esp. Mk III dashboard and new interior as a matter of personal taste).
Maybe you can help me with a question relating to the history of my car. According to the Shelby Registry it was originally shipped to 'Exclusive Car' of Geneva, Switzerland in 1987. Based on some internet research I assume the correct name of the company was 'AC Exclusive Cars S.A.', it does not exist anymore. The fact that the car was intended for the Swiss market may explain the 'CH' in the chassis number, which is, I take it, a somewhat unusual addition.
I am aware that the car was owned by a gentleman in Germany between 1994 and 1997, and subsequently was part of the extensive   collection of an Italian industrialist and car freak until the end of 2009 when it came to the dealer from whom I bought it. I have not been able to find out, however, who owned the car between 1987 and 1994.
Should someone of you happen to have information on its whereabouts during that period or have an idea how I could investigate further, that would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advise on the reason for the 'CH' in the chassis number would be very welcome. Many thanks in advance!
