Hi all, INsurance renewal looms!

Hi, can somebody at ACOC please make it simple to add pictures. When I hit the 'add image' button all I get is (IMG) appearing in the text box.

The help window associated with the 'add image' button is completely unintelligible to me.

I would very much like to post pics related to a thread requesting help, but am unable to figure it out. Maybe I am the only one, but I doubt that.

Can anybody tell me what ignition switch is on my early 1984 Mk1V.

I am having starter reliability issues. Have removed starter, and that tests o.k. New battery is fitted, so not a lot of options left.

Happy new year!

Can anybody tell me if it can be replaced without removing the engine from the car. Maybe via the sump?

Changed the oil yesterday and found a piece of what I assume to be the drive gear for oil pump and distributor.

   Happy days.

For anybody worrying about temperature rise in their engine, this  information may be useful.
I am sure many of you will be aware of this, but, just in case;-

Kenlkowe do a range of Extreme high performance fans with built in shrouds, that shift a lot of air. On their website,
(http://www.kenlowe.com/CoolingRetrofit.php) you can find at the bottom of the page, a very helpful product comparison chart which shows the dimensions and throughput for each model up to 17" o.d. This model shifts over 4000cfm, although,it does draw a lot of amps.

Can anybody tell me where I can get hold of some of these.

Have spent quite some time browsing around the web with no real success.

Hi all,  I find I have oil leaking from the nearside end of the steering rack on my 1984 built car.

It is visible on the gaiter, and underneath where it collects on the chassis rail.

I have never seen this previously, although it was recently 'topped up' when it was serviced prior to a recent continental trip.

Not knowing anything about steering systems, I have no idea why it could be leaking, and would appreciate any suggestions as to the source of the problem, and whether it has safety implications.

Look fwd to hearing from those members with greater technical knowledge than myself.

I have a pair of part worn Avons, if anybody is interested.
   They are 275/55R15.

Took them off to try fitting them ( unsuccesfully) to another car.Currently mounted on some tube bolt Minilites.

Related to my previous mail.
Seems sensible to replace the shock absorbers whilst its in pieces, so have started to research replacements.

So far have found replacement Spax at around £250 each on a weeks lead time, and custom build units from Hawkridge at around same price, but on a 4-6 week lead time.

Any suggestions on readily available shocks out there?

   Thx

Hi all,  Before I start, and for reference, my car is an early Mk 1V, AK 1035.I think it was an 84 build.
I was greasing the car the other day, had the front wheels off the ground, and noticed I had a little play when rocking the wheel top and bottom.

I assume this is due to king pin wear, and would like to know where I can find a new one, also, is it is a job which can be done at home, without specialist tools.?

   Thx

As you can see from my last post on fuse box layout, I am trying to sort out an electrical problem, and in doing so, realise I have no spares.

My handbook tells me there are only three values required, 10, 15 and 30 amps!

Where do I obtain them? Don't like the idea of possible suspect quality if bought off eBay, and electrical suppliers seem only to offer 'Continental' ceramic fuse values, which seem to be 2.5,5,8 and 16amps.

   Advice please.

Hi all, I have tried to add pics to illustrate my question.

But anyway here go'es wih the problem.

Simply put the fusebox diagramme in my Manual bears no relationship with the actual fusebox, so I am struggling to figure out which fuse is which.

Just in case my pics are not there, my cars box is laid out as follows.
5 relays in a side to side row at the back.
2 groups of 6 fuses, placed side by side, with fuses orientated front to back, all in front of the relays.
Each group of 6 fuses has a separate clear plastic cover.

My car is late '84 build chassis 1035.

Dos anybody have a manual showing an early fusebox?

I have recently replaced my original radiator with an alloy example, and made a serious error in not replacing the fan at the same time. As a result I am now wanting to replace the original 1984 Autocraft fitted item with a modern hi power 'sucker'. Mounting to new fan on the rear of the radiator is relatively simple, but I am v. concerned about getting the old one out.

So, relating to that forthcoming job, my question is;-
What is involved in removing the std front mounted fan, Bearing in mind that it is mounted well up into the front shroud, and has that air deflector plate also fitted into the front of the shroud, preventing easy access to the fan.

Hope someone can tell me its easy!!

Hi all,
Does the club have any arrangements/presence at this event on 13/14th June?

I will be attending and wondered if there is any display space for the club.
