I would have replied earlier but have been travelling, the Post War inner Timken Taper Roller bearing is I understand obsolete, it has a very odd bore/shaft diameter! I have had prices for them of over £80+ from Henderson bearings who at the time located I believe seven bearings, unfortunately that was more than two years ago!
I did suggest to Steve Hall that anybody scrapping Post War axles save the bearings if they are good!
The Stub Axle project which was started more than three years ago took this issue into account in the axle re-design so that current available bearings could be specified with the slightly larger axle diameter, this increase in diameter was specified also for PVT axles as well as ensuring root radi were maximised to match the Timken bearing specifications.
Therefore a stronger axle was planned together with current available bearings, the outer bearing is also difficult to obtain & expensive if you find any, but there are similar bearings that can be used of the same load characteristics, if I remember they are slightly shorter on the inner race!
So in the longer term & if you need new axles then suitable bearings will be available.
You will need to discuss availability with Steve Hall!
