BEX1126 for sale (the swamp car)
« on: November 09, 2008, 13:43:54 »
It turns out that BEX1126 which was discovered earlier this year in a Georgia swamp, a description of which is to be read in November's edition of ACtion, is being offered for sale now on eBay by its new owner.
Apparently he has come to the conclusion that he does not have enough time on his hands to restore it.
A good opportunity to see many more pictures of it than the previously supplied few photos.

For a car that has been sitting in a Georgia swamp, it doesn't really look that bad. Not a minor project mind you, but I had visions of rusted through tubes, snakes wrapped around the steering column, only seat frames left, etc when I first heard about the car. The hardtop is also an interesting item. Thanks for posting the link.

Well spotted, I was origonally told the new Californian Ferrari specialist had started restoration,  A great project car,  however with the £ being so weak against the $ not viable to buy and ship back to UK.

Hopefully someone in USA buys and restores BEX1126, it would appear it is more or less complete. So searching the globe for those illusive bits is not a issue.

The hardtop looks like a standard AC Ace hard top as supplied via Thames Ditton. I have still to fit a replacement rear window in 2nd hand hard top I purchased with front screen and surround but minus rear sctreen. ( right time, right place & right price .... just had to buy it and stash it away in the workshop.  (A winter project ?)

Later this year or early next year I will learn if the Jerry Hawkridge rear screen purchased some 2 years ago actually fits.
