"Some minor items with the 6010 stamping were taken from CSX2142"
"The 6010 footbox i/d tag (the chassis plate) was taken from CSX2001"

Maybe this is the reason they are advertising the car as they have on the website.

What an interesting write up on the car in the auction description .

   The estimate of 1 300 000 - 1 700 000 € for a car with a new chassis and body sounds very optomistic.

Have they now changed the description of the car in the Auction advert ?

The car in the photo was indeed raced last weekend by Jason Wright, it was only the cars second outing, the first was at Donington at the beginning of this month.

A shed load of recent 'improvements' make it the 2014 standard-issue go-faster product, far removed from the AC original. Is it the same car , or has a new one been built ?

I have not heard or seen of this car before, an interesting advert for the car. How did you find the chassis No ?

Aaron and Stephen should become registrars: they would then find that their positions have unfortunate consequences in law. As I understand them these positions cast doubt on Paul Vestey’s Cobra ownership, Joachim von Beust’s Cobra ownership and Alex Boswell’s Cobra ownership, to name just a few who spring to mind.

A short while later Aaron and Stephen would receive proceedings (probably including, but not limited to, malicious defamation), as would whatever Club had appointed them as registrars. There would be no defence to these proceedings because Aaron and Stephen would be acting unlawfully by, inter alia, redefining ‘ownership’ on a basis that has no foundation in any leading jurisdiction. In consequences Aaron and Stephen would be £100,000 or more out of pocket.

A knowledge of the law is essential to any registrar in a sensitive position, including a legal understanding of ‘qualified privilege’ and the conditions it entails. It would be better for any future poster to this string to research the law before offering further insights.

I will not make any further posting to this string, except in response to quoted legal precedent, being uninterested in uninformed opinion.

RS you are obviously having a funny 5 minutes again , all I asked were a few questions , you have been more than grateful to receive information from me both by email and in telephone conversations ( plus photographs) in the past for your register . All I asked were a few questions regarding VIN & chassis No`s and don't need to research any laws to ask a few questions .

I suggest you read my comments again , my comments do NOT cast doubt over the authenticity of any cars mentioned in this thread.

From its registration document (V5C, Carte Gris etc)

Is the chassis No not also the VIN No for Cobras? As the chassis No was stamped on a lot of various parts on the car for identity purposes?
The question is the wrong way round. I’ll answer a different one: Is the VIN (car number) not stamped/engraved on various parts of the car? Yes, in some places in full (eg CSX2042) and in others in part (eg 2042) when the car is made. However, as parts are replaced these stamped numbers can change.

For example, COB6034 has 6056 on its bonnet latch and both door hinges, no number on its chassis and an after-market chassis plate. Its VIN is still COB6034. There are many similar examples in the Register.

Any further questions on VINs and what they connote can easily be researched from authoritative sources.

I have not asked any questions the wrong way round ,has COB 6034 got different part Nos as the parts were fitted to different cars at the factory ? So the cars VIN No is COB6034 ,which is also the chassis no for the car  !

"•Because the owner felt like a change" So what is the VIN No for 13 COB ? because "The Bell and Colvill Cobra started life in 'stock' 289 guise, first appearing in the early-mid 70`s, presumably because it took that long to acquire all the parts to build it."
