428 Frua Forum / AC badge
« on: February 05, 2015, 10:30:25 »

Here's the back - new and old. The two outer threads connect to a thin metal bar that bolts down to hold it in place against the inner bodywork (as mentioned earlier tricky to get to but should be possible with the radiator removed).

Is the inner badge the same as the Mk4 boot badge? This is available seperately.

I paid approx. £200 for the modelling and £170 for the finished badge.
   Assuming that we bulk order - Pricing as follows;
10 complete badges at £170 each
10 AC badges at £65 each.
   All plus VAT.

I'll need to hear from Andy whether the Club will get involved as I assume that individual orders will be more expensive.

New badge made to a very high standard - outer ring is now solid. Inner backing will be enamelled red (but could be done bespoke to match a cars' bodywork).

Seigfried, The badge is with the tool shop. I should have a prototype to check by the end of this month and then will place an order based on requests and whatever the club wants.

Intersting garage companions. Is that a Montaverdi in the background along with a Dino? and note the Persian carpet on the floor.Could it be a museum?

Judging by the 6 dial dash and Clear Hooters switches it's circa 1960-70.

Cheshire Classic Cras are advertising a 1969 Coupe in Dec Octane at £139,995.
Looks like one that was up for auction in recent years?

Siegfried - yes the club have the grilles in stock (I know for sure as they formed part of the haul from the old Frua factory that I brought back from Germany).

I have two local firms interested. Will reply with confirmed costings but based on photos it looks like around £150 or so per set including the surround.

So other than David's man in Norfolk (bit far away for me)who else comes recommended to build shorty headers in the South-East?

Thanks for that. i had also heard that these were possibly Galaxie Station Wagon so the 'Country Squire' bit seems about right.

Looks like new headers might be the way to go...

Another view of the crack through the main body

and one of the whole manifold - the cracks are at the right end. Top mount hole looks almost broken away and then a long crack runs down through the body.

Can't see any other numbers - the opposite side has a similar short number (maybe other numbers are on the inside - seems odd though)

Got the camera out and came up with one part number on the underside of the manifold.

   Cracks showing here

and here with an old weld showing.

Part number looks like B67237 which is as far as I can tell is not a Ford code.

Thanks for your replies - Slinden looks like the route to go down if I go for repair rather than replacement.

Thanks for the feedback. The General Forum have come up with a consensus of opinion regarding who to go to for the welding - my problem there is that the manifold will almost certainly crack up more when removed and the studs shear in the block - then the car will block up the workshop until when and if the repair is made...not popular with the Garage.

So I guess I'll try the chemical metal for now and pursue the original part route and investigate new replacement at the same time.

Has anyone got access to an uninstalled manifold to get the part number? The part is said to come from only the station wagon version of a particular Ford model.

J.Jones - who fabricated your manifold? Short heads have been suggested but it's said that one of the pipes has to be made removable in order to allow access to other parts/go around the steering column?

David can you send me a link to your man in Norwich?

   Thanks again

   Cliff
