Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum. I live in Germany, in the Ruhr Area to be more specific, and since a couple of months I have been the proud owner of a Mk IV (chassis number AK1200CH). AK1200CH is not only my first AC but my first 'classic' car generally. So far, I have been very happy with it, it runs very well and I have not had any technical problems. During the coming winter break I plan to have some 'optical' changes made (esp. Mk III dashboard and new interior as a matter of personal taste).
Maybe you can help me with a question relating to the history of my car. According to the Shelby Registry it was originally shipped to 'Exclusive Car' of Geneva, Switzerland in 1987. Based on some internet research I assume the correct name of the company was 'AC Exclusive Cars S.A.', it does not exist anymore. The fact that the car was intended for the Swiss market may explain the 'CH' in the chassis number, which is, I take it, a somewhat unusual addition.
I am aware that the car was owned by a gentleman in Germany between 1994 and 1997, and subsequently was part of the extensive collection of an Italian industrialist and car freak until the end of 2009 when it came to the dealer from whom I bought it. I have not been able to find out, however, who owned the car between 1987 and 1994.
Should someone of you happen to have information on its whereabouts during that period or have an idea how I could investigate further, that would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advise on the reason for the 'CH' in the chassis number would be very welcome. Many thanks in advance!
Jürgen
