JAn,
remove the tach by unthreading two retaining screws on the back that hold a "U" shaped retainer, push the tach out from the back, replace the bulb and reverse process.

JAn,
I only got Christmas Cards from Brian and Christine for three years and I bought DOZENS of cars from him! Good stash of stuff. The card with the Hawker represent some of the downfall of Brian's ownership of AC, he became more interested in collectiiong motorcycles and warbirds than building cars.

Alan,
Ah but the early CRS cars were NOT one piece bodies. Kid Jensen who did the CF work could not mould them in one piece and get them out of the mould. The early cars were a front/rear clip joined under the door center!

I was treated to a CF demo at Weybridge when a CF bonnet was placed on the floor and two rather large guys (no, not me) jumped up and down on it without it cracking. It was crushed flat but bounced right back to the original shape.

The fabricators did not like CF as cutting/drilling/edgeing was difficult and the strands tend to puncture the skin leaving a rather nasty splinter to fester.

JAn,
CRawl under the IP and you will see the cable end threaded onto the speedo (the meter, not the skimpy suit) Undo the end and the drive cable can be pulled out of the sheath. Clean it and re-lube it. Graphiote is OK but Ford recommends a graphite/grease mix they used to sell (note that cars today do not have cables, it's all electronic....little guys at the tranny call up to their mates at the guage who move the needle, much like a ships telegraph...) Slide the core back down the sheath and turn it while pushing down until the squared end mates into the female square on the driven gear (sounds sorta erotic, no?) and then re-attach the driven end to the gauge. Open the appropiate beverage and congratulate yourself on being so smart. Hold off on test drive until 1) beverage has worn off 2) You won't be rightously pissed if it didn't fix the problem....

   Damn, these cars are fun...

Jan,
The fender "weatherstripping" is a standard push-on type seal. If yours is bad I can direct you to a soure for new. However first I would try some weatherstrip adhesive to keep it on the FRP inner fender lip. If needed you can also apply some adhesive to the "bulb" part of the seal to adhere it to the wing.

the practioners are Portland (www.portbfs.co.uk) 01489 550 440.

While I am not a direct party to tis action, I am kept aware of the proceedings. One of the creditors listed in the CVA is a certain Mr. Alan Lubinsky who is owed royalties for the licensing of the trademarks and intellectual properties which he holds in his USA company.

I have a large file cabinet filled with documents and such as relates to the ACCG/Pride Automotive/Numerous entities era of "AC". I supplied documents and information to the people who made the State of CT. aware of the real intentions of the "new AC factory in Bridgeport" deal, note that the Governor didn't hold a press conference to announce the state backing out of the deal unlike the big announcement she made when A.L. sweet talked the state.

Jan,
No the MK IV does not share the bottom hinged pedals that other ACs have and the pedal assembly in the MK IV is from a Euro Ford. The Superblower/CRS pedals are from a 93-2004 Mustang (I know, I supplied them to AC for a time)and you can use the alloy pedals for the "Bullitt" model Mustang as well as aftermarket units for those years. I don't know what works for the pre mis 90s Mark IVs.

Not an unreasonable price for a good top loader. Look at ClubCobra.com and search for "toploader" and you will find several threads with pricing/value (keeping in mind that price and value are two VERY different things!) Also look at the David Kee transmissions site (a link on ClubCobra) and decode the tag.

Try Metro Moulded Parts, they have several paieces and bulk weatherstrips and channels. See http://www.metrommp.com/ Note that they don't list "AC" parts but do show pieces for Cobras, most of which are interchangable i.e. tail lamp gaskets, windshield lower seal, etc. They have numerous types of channels and such. Another place I did alot of business with are excellent folks with much of the same stuff is http://www.restorationspecialties.com/

Remember very little was unique to AC, most stuff was "off the shelf" and used elsewhere.

Jan,
the "Boss" is the raised section on the wheel where the spinner threads into. It can be machined down to clear the spinners. It has no bearing on wheel strength. The "interferance fit" refers to the angle that the seat of the wheel and the taper of the nut/knock-off have. If the angle of the wheel seat is 45 degress the nut must be 46 or 47 degrees to forcean "interferance fit", i.e. the taper angles must not be the same. Many early MK IVs did not have sufficient interferance and tended to loosed the hub nuts. If not safety wired a lost wheel would result......I know from first hand experiance!

   Ron,
The ACOC Mk IV registrar should have the info for your car. I have many invoices and build sheets for the cars I imported and sold (currently in storage, I will make them available in a couple of weeks after I get settled and dig out my files)

The reason he couldn't use the knockoffs with the 16" original wheels is due to the "boss" on the 16. This fouls the taper of a knock-off before the spinner seats. The solution is to flycut the back of the knockoff wings OR to have the boss on the wheel machined down. The tapers will then mate. BTW, you need a 1-3 degree interferance fit for a knock-off to stay tight. And NEVER go without safety wire!

NO, the car was NOT owned by Billy Joel, it was owned by Frank Weber, his brother-in-law (first wife, pre Christy Brinley. Billy sued Frank for a bazzilion dollars for mis-management (Frank was his manager and financial guy) and Frank sold the car. It has been sold a couple of time and represented as "Billy Joel's" car[:0]. I don't even know if Billy ever rode in it. I delivered to Franks house in Smithtown on the island.

The 15" wheel are available from Trigo Wheels (Lynn Park, longtime Cobra guy and nice guy) if you want the 60's look.

I thought the AK number sounded familiar. I do believe it has had at least two owners isnce Weber and how it ended up at Maroone for sale is unknown to me. BTW, I grew up with the Maroone family when they lived in Buffalo.
