Coys have a MK V for sale and it is described as "Superbly prepared"!
http://www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php?auction=83&id=55541
-
To quote the last sentence in the first paragraph:
"Sadly three cars in right hand drive specification were manufactured....."
I, on the other hand, couldn't possibly comment.

Trevor, you at a loss for words?!?!?! I for one, am shocked. And "superbly prepared", sadly not by AC!

Erm, how many factories?
And how superbly prepared can a car be when it has: "...vented discs all round fitted to Cooper Racing tyres..." ? What, no wheels?! [:I][}:)]

That was built 3 years ago.[:p]
I hope the MkV is more superbly prepared than it`s description!

I love the statement:
"The company specialises in offering immediate or shorter delivery"
I suppose when you dealing with "AC" in Malta it probably was being totally honest! [:D]
I wonder what the actual cost of production per car was. Not just in Malta, but also sorting them out when they arrived in the UK? In real terms this must be an absolute snip. A fraction of what the true cost would have been.
-
But what are you getting?
-
another migrane Robin
I am assured, however, that the engines in those 3 cars are stonking. Once the value reaches that of the engine, grab it. As for the rest of it..... collectors items they ain't.

Get a room, guys!

Thanks for spoiling a magical moment Nik....
-
Trevor, sorry to disturb you from your "magical moment", but tell us do. Who got the job of putting them right and what was wrong with them (or if its quicker what was right!). And how good are they now?
Time to spill the beans!
-
Err, with respect - no.

Chicken!
It was Diego Maradona...He`s the only one I know of with the Hand Of God.

The Lord does move in mysterious ways, but I really don't think he had anything much to do with this particular vehicle.
That said, the guy who had to "Superbly Prepare it" might have been heard to utter "Oh My God" a few times!
-
Actually I did hear what he said and God never came into it.... :-0
I think he wanted the cars to multiply elsewhere
-
Does anyone know whether this particular car has gone forth (So to speak!)
Or is Mr. Clive Sutton still the proud owner?
-
This car appears to be the sister car of the 2 that were in Long Island NY. This car is 008 and I was looking to pruchase 006 ..all MRK V Carbon Fiber Bodies.
Looks like they completed this one ..the 2 I was looking at were incomplete with no motor and trans ...in the USA ...they would have been titled as Replicas ... maybe rightfully so ... but ..I wasnt comfortable ... not sure where 006 & 005 ended up ... but I thought they were very nice cars.

Ron,
My Mum had a saying "Beauty is only skin deep".
I think thats a great looking car!
-
..... "Beauty is only skin deep". But Ugly is straight thru to the bone !!! LOL
I like the thought of carbon fiber ... but no one I have seen has it down to a science in the automotive industry with fit, strength and no bowing over a long eperiod of time ...that was one of the minor issues with these bodies.

It would appear that this one is still on the books of Clive Sutton, appearing for sale in the eBay Classifieds (http://"http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AC-Cobra-MKV-Convertible_W0QQitemZ150315341461QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item150315341461&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318")

Jeez have they STILL got that 'Eleanor' (puke) That was being touted at the Motor Show in 2007 - I was advised it was both desirable and a bargain. I think my assessment was closer to the mark.

OK, to bring this back on topic...
It would appear that our subject was a no-sale, with only 23 of the 52 cars for sale actually finding a new home, according to the classiccarsforsale.co.uk (http://"http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/view-classic-auction-cars.php/auctioneer/41") results page, however a 1992 RAM Cobra evocation[;)] made £21k against an estimate of £16-19k.
