Title: Solex carb emulsion tube supplier???
Post by: Exowner on November 22, 2021, 14:49:48
Me again, does anyone know if there is a Solex carb emulsion tube supplier??? Prefereably in the UK, but any info welcome.
The carbs are 32B1, same as Ace Bristol, but non-accelerator pump jobs

Pedants Corner:
Interesting that one still sees references to 'Accelerator Pumps' on the Solex B32PBI-6 as there are none and never were. There is something called a 'Part Throttle Enrichening Circuit.' It does look like it might be a pump, but it isn't, having a function to leave open a valve at part throttle opening to allow the emulsion tube to suck more fuel and to close the valve as the throttle opening increases. Often deleted on competition engines where the main jets are much larger and were supposed not to need any supplement. There is a good description of the operation on Pg. 27 of the Ace Bristol General Instructions

Bear in mind making your carbs more Ethanol robust if you have your carbs apart perhaps?

James, any suggestions? I always use 5% ethanol grades and the latest version of Tetraboost E-Guard, not so much for the octane increase, more as a valve seat protector. I can't really think af any option within the carbs that could be replaced to offer better protection. So far I have noticed no problems. That is not to say there will never be any.
Any sugestions gratefuly welcomed. G.
