I decided to make a register of cars of the AC brand in a format that is convenient for me.
In it, I want to include not only surviving cars, but all known cars.
I will start laying out pages in this section, then I will move on to thematic sections.
I need local experts to verify the information available to me. I would be glad for additional information and high quality photos

I Agree with Paho also if this is to be of all AC's then maybe the general section of the forum is better placed.

I'm not against. What will the Administration say?

This would be a lot of work and I congratulate Andrey in taking it on, especially as some registers are so out of date as to be bordering on worthless. It does have very good potential.
The questions are (a) what it would contain and (b) where it should be published. If it is known (and generally available) information, it could have its own section on this actual website or it could have a stand-alone site.
-
Why is it necessary to have another separate Vintage register to that which exists?
Could they be combined?

Robin
See reply #8 - I read it that Andrey wishes to put a complete list of cars in one place (= not just the vintage). In answer to your question, the vintage register is updated approx every 10 years, the last one was issued in Spring 2014. They are historically inaccurate, hopelessly out of date and incomplete.

Hi Andrey,
the information on my vehicle on open sources that I know of, has been made anonymous with no registration information or ownership information which is as
it should be. Otherwise details were in the AC Club register (but the info. was scrambled in the last update that I am aware of). That register has controlled access and is not public.
I can see the need for upto date registers and I admire and respect your interest. Why not contact the club and offer your services?

As a 60 year AC enthusiast and club member when I owned an Ace in the 1970's I'm not sure the forum is meant for this type of use and is the administrator/owner of the site up to the cost of storage space for the information/images and are there copyright issues with the use of images posted. I think this is something which needs coordination with the admisitrator and most likely should be a separate area of the website in a format similar to that of the https://acace123.de.tl/AC-Ace-and-AC-Aceca.htm website or Barchetta site for Ferraris, etc.
The information is obviously of interest to many enthusiast's but I'm not sure this is necessarily the place or format.

I agree with John. I would hope that something can be agreed with the powers that be.

As I understand it, many are only concerned about information on current car owners.
I could exclude it if the owners themselves do not show off their cars on their pages on social networks.

Your understanding is probably correct....but it still doesn't exempt you or the forum from GDPR.
For example thats why the club requests permission to store personal information when joining the club.

Christ almighty how many ruddy pictures are there going to be.
Why not start your own website or facebook thingy.
Or get a life!
Gary
-
.....get a life!
Why do you insult him? He is offering a register of cars which is of historic value, both now and in the future. You may not be interested in the history of a given car, or the model range, but others, automotive historians like myself, are. This project, and Andrey, should be encouraged. Also, why do you insist on calling him Audrey, his name is Andrey. Already there are vehicles shown here that are not in the ACOC archive. A good job could be done in this project and, as said before, the discussion is which information it should contain and where it can be stored.
-
Hi Old Crock
Firstly that was not an insult merely a suggestion, as surely there is more in this life to do than post an inordinate number of pictures on the Forum.
I do have an interest in old vehicles, however there is a place for this sort of information. Such as a dedicated forum page, a stand alone webpage, Facebook etc etc etc
Posting all these pictures uses up a lot of space. Also, as has been mentioned there may be copyright issues.
As to calling him Audrey that is my error, the eyesight not being what it was. Andrey it will be.
So Andrey, perhaps you should look at the options available to you to post this information, if a single picture is indeed information ,as it has no accompanying detail of use.
Have a good day and a happy new year.
Gary

Andrey, here’s a suggestion.
Why don’t you contact the webmaster to see his response to having a separate section in the website. It could be worded something like ‘vehicle archive’ or ‘model registry’. The photos could be a starting point with information (= whatever agreed) added about the vehicle (being as complete as agreed e.g. using a template). This could be amended by the forum user, including past/current owners, registrars, archivist, just as the website Wikipedia does – this would automatically show the amendment date, so future researchers, of a given car, would know if it was up-to-date information or years old. This section could become be a valuable resource.
If this has extra costs to the club, needing approval, then the idea put to the ACOC Council. If rejected, then consider a separate website.
-
For me an "open" registry" on this forum is an absolute no, something I feel strongly about.
Others are welcome to post their personal information but its not for me.
As I reside in a country which is more open than most I'm not about to share details that are best kept in a secure register such as the one the club
administers. I am willing to share my reasons but not on this open forum, the forum administrator is welcome to contact me.
A happy and prosperous New Year to you all!
/Paho
-
...Others are welcome to post their personal information but its not for me.....
Paho, please read my posting again. There is no suggestion of including personal data. Indeed, the ACOC would not do that (being at risk under the ‘Data Protection Act’ of the UK). The listing I'm suggesting would be for the individual cars and models, not the person. I have a vintage Bentley here, and take a look at this that we have
http://www.vintagebentleys.org/ (http://www.vintagebentleys.org/)
and see what is possible for the Bentley enthusiast…it is full of excellent information and searchable by model, chassis number, engine number, body builder etc. This is not the only site for searching marques - AC could become another one!
Relax, Paho, your 'personal' data would be safe….
-
Sorry "Old Crock", but the layout and information on the Bentley site is exactly what I am afraid of. If you lived where I do you would understand why. At least the registers on the AC Owners club site are restricted to members and follow GDPR requirements which is why I agreed to the terms. This forum is open to all and sundry, which I think is great, but it has its disadvantages!
I enjoy reading your contributions, so don't stop!
Have a great New Year!
BR /Paho
-
Sadly the Bentley site (which I think is great) is no longer being updated as the “owner” of the site decided to retire. Hopefully what is there will remain for a while, but sadly will then be lost.
I don’t know where paho is based, it would be interesting to know where and why the suggested site could be threatening.
-
Hi Jam2,
as long as you promise not to publish the information I can explain why I'm not prepared to have my personal data published in a register on an open forum.
You can contact me via the forum's e-mail feature. I'm traveling at the moment but will get back to you.

I have pages on Facebook and Instagram, but the information is here.
And I need information
I understand your concern for personal data and I will not disclose it. Although only the name of the owner and the city are indicated in the club's register. With such a volume of information, it is difficult to find a person even in our time.

Hi Andrey,
the club's registers also provide other information, and they are limited to club members.
I do not share your views on the difficulties of finding information in the world we have today.
One does not need "Facebook", "Instagram", or similar web applications to find information.

Hi Andrey
I have photos that I can send you of some of the cars where their chassis numbers are currently seen as 'black screen'. Also, do you want further notes - any other information - to add, concerning the cars you have recorded here?
Also, a note should be prepared for 'ACtion' advising others of this photographic resource on the forum.

There are very important historical photos being shown here. Andrey has done a fine job in finding them and copying across to the forum.
The club archivist needs to ensure that these are now held permanently in the ACOC archives for future reference and research.

Auto-Carrier Delivery Van #6
An interesting photograph! However, some of the information is not correct. Extensive research has shown the first appearance of the Auto-Carrier was in December 1906. The wheels on the example in this photograph date it much later - probably around 1910. The earlier models all had wire wheels. The signwriting of the company details is not clear but would help clarify the date.

In India, in the Supercar Club Cafe there is an unknown example in an unusual color.
Based on the external gas cap, the rear view mirror on the windshield pillar, and the shape of the soft top, it is similar to the 1927 AC Six Royal, chassis #13476.

A very interesting car. A couple of vintage AC's are known to be in India and this restored car doesn't appear to be either of them. Andrey, were there any more details with this photo e.g. chassis number, owner, location? It does have a gravity feed fuel tank (so may be a little earlier than 1927) though does have front brakes. Also, appears to lack front damping so the springs would be putting up with a lot more effort, especially considering India's roads. Paintwork gaudy, but maybe representing India's flag? The steering wheel and the seat style are wrong for the car, but overall it looks restored well. Any more info available?

On looking at the photo again, it could be the car is still under restoration as no number plate, missing dampers, seat may be temporary (interior to be trimmed?) etc. It may be a six-cylinder and thus probably unrecorded in the vintage register. For gravity fuel tanks AC did not use a filler on the scuttle, but on the dashboard, so it may not be a petrol cap - it wasn't unusual to place a mascot or car badge here, especially if a calormeter was on the radiator, but can't confirm this as the photo pixellates when enlarging.

Whilst following up on AC cars in India, an interesting photo came to light. This photo shows the Maharaja Sir Vijaysinhji of Rajpipla, taken at his estate ‘The Manor’ at Old Windsor, UK, in 1927. Note his car in the background, an AC....clearly a man of taste. It was one of his stable of many cars, which included a number of Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts and Phantoms!
