Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca stampings
« on: November 04, 2014, 23:05:31 »
Luke's assumption is correct regarding the stamping of the Bristol gearbox.
It should consist of the type followed by a serial number. For Ace and Aceca models the type is BW CR 9 or BW CR 12 as far as I know.
The serial number should match the serial number of the engine or be very close to it. Later cars like BEX 798 might have a small difference between both serial numbers.
This indicates the box is original to the engine.
In the case of BEX 316 gearbox BW CR 12 650 exactly matches engine 100D 650.
As I mentioned before the stamping is on the right hand side of the main case of the gearbox, i.e. on the passenger side of a LHD car.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Bristol Engine on E Bay

This is certainly not the first time this same engine is offered by the same vendor. I seem to remember the price was just on the other side of 40K before but I may be wrong.

Are that prices handwritten on the drawing for various body repair sections?

I would think it is indeed a misprint because 2553cc is exactly the stock displacement of a 2.6 Zephyr engine.

This was done because of concerns about privacy laws and their possible  consequences. I am sure Stephan Pehl still has all pictures that were on it.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Two Aces-Bristol at auction
« on: January 14, 2014, 00:00:06 »
Actually the photo of the engine number (1039) is not the one on the block but on the cylinder head of which there are two on the left hand (distributor) side of the head. I know it has happened that blocks and heads having the same number went their own separate ways during life but 1038 engine block and 1039 cylinder head ending up together would be extremely unlikely but not impossible. On the other hand, you would not expect a typo on a chassis plate even if it's a non original one, would you?
Whatever the number, the engine is a later example than the car itself which would have had a 100D instead of 100D2 prefix.
Unless of course this is the clone in which case there really are no rules to go by.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX 630
« on: December 20, 2013, 23:45:13 »
Great find. It reminds me of some old documents (but not the sales invoice) regarding another Aceca Bristol BEX652 being offered a few years back. I managed to put the man who kindly offered them in touch with the current owner, also from Germany. She was very grateful.

As my car was also sold new by Jarrard Motors I would love to see how their documents looked like.

Here is a screen capture of the race results of the Pellandini Ace Beware 1 that was already linked in Jay's post that started this thread. To keep this subject active, in sight and not to slip off the radar, in Keith's words.

To kick off another year of this fascinating long running thread here are two scans of an original Westwood Racing Circuit windscreen sticker complete with directions for applying on the backside.

BEX 333 might have had one attached one day while owned by Jim Parsons.

Kindly sent by Jonathan Parker to Keith.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX 260 and 312.
« on: October 13, 2012, 01:31:20 »
I think BEX 260 has left the Netherlands again. The Dutch registration is not valid anymore (car exported 22 July 2010). According to the Ace Bristol register it is in the UK again.
Your information on BEX 312 is new to me. I didn't know it followed 260. BTW 312 received a new body, correct?

And here is Davids message to Keith including the May 1964 pictures found of BEX 333. The proof is in the registration plate number. What a surprise it is indeed!

   Well your in luck Keith!

As I thought my mom Lorraine did have photos of a washington plated ACE...and check out the plate!!

   It is your car!

   I cant believe it either.
and the best thing they are month and date stamped..may 64.

So hope that adds to your archive

I will send these to my uncle Bill now too.

Also my mother is planning to visit England to visit family and do some geneology research in the next few years from what she tells me.

The reason she has all these photos was her boyfriend Wayne Laker owned and drove the other one in the photos I sent. Perhaps if she makes it there you can take her for a spin in an ACE again  almost 50 years later!

I have a few more of that white cobra at Westwood and will send in separate email

Let me know what ya think of the photos..

   Regards
