ACOC News and Events / Accounts being hacked!
« on: April 07, 2015, 18:15:28 »
Interesting, the snitz forum needs constant updates. I think someone has scraped the DB with users or a SQL injection has worked. Not uncommon, would recommend people change there passwords. People commonly use the same username and password combination for a number of sites, recommend change.

Max, will let Ed explain the actual break. The lower wishbone is wide and gets the most punishment due to also being the location for the shock's, etc. I went over to my fabricator friend who is going to make up new re-enforced suspension arms, I already use the same ones on my Ace's / Aceca's. Also plate in the suspension arm for more strength. If they go (only second one I know about) then it is at the front which carry's the hub. When I took my old one off, found just painted which cracks off, leaving metal to the eliminates. Will be making up 10 sets of rear and front wishbones, not sure the price. Thanks John

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Whither period F
« on: March 18, 2015, 22:00:15 »
Well Well Well, just a shame. I like Robin's approach, the approach myself and Andy have taken over the last few years is very old school. The Daimler is the same body / chassis that raced in 1960's. Every part other than a rollbar is the same that Duncan raced (actually the Body / Chassis is the original). My view, if we have fun and enjoy but still come last well who cares. If we finish high up the field that is a bonus.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Whither period F

Aaron, everyone who races at Members Meeting is meant to FIA HTP papers. For Cobra's which are well documented the difference between original vs fiction should be much easier (same for ferrari, e-Types, Mini, AC', etc.) the biggest problem is low production / next tier of racing. I wish I could run the Daimler as in period with limited slip diff, IDF downdraft and R&P steering which are all well known changes from 1960 to 1963 but that is a fight for another day. I wonder if a different approach could be taken.

   a. In period racing we all have to run the same tyres, so modern compounds are equal

   b. All meant to run to original specification

So if a car in period never got beaten by another car even under different drivers, well why does it get beaten now? If a car is doing lap times that are 5-10 seconds a lap more than period, why? if this is the case pull the car out for a nice inspection. Owners would start getting the message, if you are pulled out at every race you will either a) change or b) find something else to do.

Ed, good seeing you today, wish you all the best getting the car done. I hope the parts help, all Ac Ace Brooklands members I strongly recommend you check your front and rear lower wishbones. On my cars I have taken off the wishbones and taken back to metal welding plates onto them around the join to protect from cracking. Costs only a few pounds and will give you some safety. Remember the cars are over 20 years old now. If you need advise just shout. John

David,

You are correct, I did this to help me. Ac Actually had two versions the last one which Ac called "new shape". In the update I'm submitting to Action will explain all. So Technically correct we have a Ac Ace Brooklands and Ac Ace Brooklands New Shape (some people refer as the South African Cars, which is also misleading) I'm clearing this up based on Factory Ledge.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Looking for an Ace Brooklands to buy
« on: January 05, 2015, 09:48:17 »
Nev,

A few have come to Market recently, starting to see a lot of interest in the cars. I get about 2-3 emails a week from people looking for the cars, I do not know of any currently available. If I hear will let you know. I see the prices over the last few weeks have started to rise steadily so you friend should budget above £20K now if you want a reasonable car. Project cars if available are lower, but still fetch strong prices. Over Xmas I updated the register, will be sending for Action printing.

By the end of the week it will be $300K if this keeps happening.

Andy, yep, good point. I hope it goes to a good home. I must admit the world is mad, my 1966 mini cooper S cost me £200 when bought (the guy could not give it away) now look. Makes the Ac Ace Brooklands look a great buy, but even they have jumped in the last month.

Still a lot of money and it will need a lot of work, the challenge will be based on my experience is getting the body work done
