Call AC Heritage in the UK Peter. The factory ledger was out on display on New Years Day.

I saw the Mamba prototype under wraps at the factory just before its unveiling at the Motorshow. Barrie's LeMans coupe was also waiting in the wings from memory along with the Lotus engined 212SC.

ACOC News and Events / AC Bonanza - Brooklands NYD
« on: January 01, 2016, 19:31:40 »
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to come today. It was a pleasure to talk AC's and there were over 20 AC cars present from all eras. My favourite was the genuine 289 Cobra that was recently liberated from Tokyo and will stay for some sympathetic restoration work. I was also rather partial towards the 428 convertible - it's difficult to believe you could hardly give them away at one time.

Several ex-factory employees were also on hand with some really interesting anecdotes - cars catching fire in paint ovens while in their custody and the like, as well as stories about prolific or eccentric AC customers that they dealt with. The factory ledgers also brought a few smiling faces to AC owners when they found their cars listed. Ultimately, it's all about the cars and I am already looking forward to next year.

ACOC News and Events / AC line up : Brooklands Museum, New Years Day
« on: December 19, 2015, 19:18:38 »
It amazes me how much of the Thames Ditton and Autokraft archives are at AC Heritage - over three decades of liberating and conserving the history of  our cars. I feel like I am in the role of an archivist sometimes. But back to the topic and a brief update from this morning. Already several ACOC members have commited to be at Brooklands and are 'Tour De Force' with their AC's. Just a taster : a 2 Litre Saloon, a 2.6 Ruddspeed ACe, 289 MK 111 Cobra, AC Frua, Vintage Cars etc. It will be wonderful to present our unique cars to the Public and everyone will be welcome.

I was looking at over 50 photographs of this car from all angles at AC Heritage a couple of days ago - inside, outside and underneath, both past and very recent. It is nice to know that it will be reconstructed in its proper guise.

Preserving history is important and an antidote to the ever prevalent Modsports cars (which I also love). Hats off to Robin for taking on the auctioneers again.

He means Autokraft - just look at the difference between the rear wheels on the red and green cars pictured The polished rim/dish is different. The Hawk wheels were made from tooling rescued from the AC Cars receiver. Compomotive made them for AC Cars too I believe. There are Trigo/vintage cheap copies but reasonable value or, the Hawk wheels to genuine Autokraft/AC Cars Mk1V specification.

The original '60's 15" Halibrand rims are different too I think.

They are Trigo wheels I believe.

Thank you for these suggestions. However, both Trigo and Vintage wheels do not have the factory correct dish to the rear wheel. The Trigo wheels have certain offset issues (I have a set fitted) but, the Vintage wheels can be machined by the factory within a certain range. Given the values of our cars it seems worth paying extra to me to get it 'right'

Jerry is concentrating on the tooling for the Stratos wheels as a priority he said - you need those to sell a car. When his wheel manufacturer went bust, the receivers scrapped a lot of the expensive tooling he still owned without consultation. The reinvestment is therefore very high and the incentive to produce tempered accordingly.

With regards to the Halibrand pattern wheels, he had 100 wheels made several years back and it took him a few years to sell them all. That is quite a bit of capital tied up for a small business/low volume manufacturer. The suggestion is that those of us who would like a set now really need to place decent deposits in advance to incentivise and speed up the process of getting them made.. I am happy to commit in principal - what about anyone else? Jerry is looking to cover his retooling costs as far as he can to get going again and sell them at reasonable money, the remainder of the new batch going into stock but, with a good number of sets pre-sold.

ACOC News and Events / Keith Judd

Yes, very sad to hear of Keith Judd's passing. He added much priceless and vital information to the AC Heritage archive and frequently visited classic car meetings at Brooklands. He told some great anecdotes - there is a tribute to him on the Team AC Facebook page.
