Title: Rear Brakes - long shot
Post by: jmohara on May 27, 2017, 13:23:12
Hi all,
I need a handbrake lever return spring and 2 of the thrust springs from the rear calipers. I know they are Peugeot 504/5 calipers, but can't find the part numbers for the springs. Anyone any ideas?

Michael,
Have a look at 'Girling Brake & Clutch Hydraulic Illustrations 1960-1980' Illustration 307 (AH12 Caliper) and 'Girling Vehicle Applications MG ..... Reliant 1960-1980' Peugeot 504.

Thanks to Rob for the very useful link.

So despite a few leads and potential places to get these parts I am still struggling.
I need the 2 handbrake lever return springs from the caliper, and the 2 bias (or thrust) springs.
Anyone got these or know anyone that has?
Car is pretty much done but need to get the rest brakes back on!

Michael,

Have you tried Peugeot specialists?  http://www.504.org/CatPiecesDetachees.htm  should help identify the O/E numbers. You need Chapter 44B.

Just to close this out....
I did not realize the rear brakes are VERY similar to a Pantera - so you can get the handbrake return spring from the Pantera specialists. However the Pantera does not use the bias spring. If I am honest I don't know exactly what the bias spring is for, but I found a couple in Australia as Peugeot parts. There are also Peugeot specialists in Europe that seen to have these in stock.
The Girling part numbers for the bias springs were SP 2578 and SP 2579. The Girling numbers for the handbrake return springs were 64321128 and 64321129.
The Peugeot part numbers for the bias springs were 4427.04 and 4427.05. The handbrake return springs are 4425.07 and 4425.08
Hope that helps anyone on the same journey.
