Great car indeed...

Not only BEX279 but also BEX460 and Aceca BE572 have been entered at Reims in 1958.

I had a message from JC Dolezal, driver of the car in 1968.
In period the Aceca was owned by Spitzer Brothers, founders of Ecurie de France, but Dolezal does not know what the car has become...We have to ask Antoine Prunet to help us !

Hello all,

I had an e-mail from Keith two days ago, as you have read above we have found some documents in France about an Aceca with modified front end "Aston style". Furthermore I had yesterday the name of Plumelec Hill Climb entrant, cherry on the cake I am in contact since this morning with the daughter of the driver of the car in 1968, she is going to investigate with her dad...

Of course I have no idea of the Plumelec's car identity for now but I am afraid it is not AE504, the car below is a LHD...

   Warm regards

Nice video, thanks for sharing...

But the wooden body buck you can see at 4'35" is not from the Daytona Coupe...One person on this side of the pond will identify his "baby" at once.
Well, it's a Cobra Coupe but...the picture has been shot in Thames Ditton.

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's...and unto God that which is God's

One more thing, don't make the confusion in between Class and Group classification :
The Cobra Daytona (CSX2299) driven by Gurney and Bondurant at Le Mans '64 is
   - 4th overall
   - 1st in GT Group
   - 1st in 4001 to 5000 cc Class
The achievement is the Group victory not the Class victory (the Ferrari GTO, powered by a 3 litres V12, was not competing in the same Class).
From 1962 to 1965, only GT's could score for the FIA international championship and the battle in between Cobra's and GTO's is also known as "The Cobra-Ferrari war".

I would have called that excellent video "50th anniversary of the Cobra winning GT at Le Mans"

   Warm regards

Hello all,

Happy new year to all members and AC Bristol fans, looking forward to seeing many of you at Le Mans Classic in July...

For today a very nice little video from Girling Company, shot during the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours. Be watchful at 5'20", I have posted it to John Deveson and he has never seen before such a long piece of video of 650 BPK.

Are you sure the picture above is Riverside ?
The #106 Ace could be driven by Peter Haywood (BEX 1063).

Constant,

VPL 442 (#FS50) did not start her life in 1954 with a Bristol engine but was first Ace to be fitted with Bristol engine in 1956.
Seen at Le Mans 1957 as a kind of "T car"...

   Historic car isn't she !

Two books to have on your bookshelves:
   - Ace Bristol Racing by Tony Bancroft.
   - AC Six-Cylinder Sports Cars by Rinsey Mills.
