Thanks Robin.  I was there when the bearing was fitted and believe it was fitted correctly (had the handbook to refer to at the time as well).  Has anyone else had direct experience with the SKF 4208 bearing as a replacement?

   Thank you,

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Wood under the roof in an Aceca?
« on: March 01, 2012, 15:12:59 »
Peter,

I believe the wood was only used on those cars which had a headliner.  My car, AEX734, has no headliner and instead has some sort of fuzzy fabric glued directly to the inside of the roof.  I am somewhat tall and the extra inch+ of headroom is really nice.  Thanks for providing the great documentation of your restoration!  BE646 is very lucky to have you as its owner!

Lew,

I sent you an email directly a few days ago on this subject and just wanted to be sure you received it.

   Thanks,

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca window frame

Lew,

I am actually the one who posted the two piotures of the rear quarter window frames.  My car, AEX734, is actually very complete and if you want to give me some idea of the details you are looking for I can post the appropriate pictures.  This may or may not be of interest to the other forum readers so if you want to give me your email address I can send them to you directly.

   Best,

David,

Here are the two photos John asked me to post which clearly illustrate the apparent difference between the early and later cars.  John's 1956 model utilizes the multi-ply approach to achieving the tight bend.  My 1959 car's rear quarter window trim  appears to be a solid piece of mahogany that must have been steam bent.  As John mentions, my car also has a burled walnut dash, center console and glove box.

I hope you find this helpful.  Congratulations on your progress in bringing BE601 back to life.

   Best regards,
   Greg

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC ACECA IN NEW ZEALAND

My Aceca is AC powered.  The open ended spanners in the tool tray are made by Garrington and are their Merlin type.  I know that the Bristol tool tray contains at least one open ended spanner (bent at an angle) that differs from the AC tray but I suspect the majority are the same.  Hope this is helpful.

Lew,

Your description of "that furry round stuff" is pretty accurate.  The product is called Furflex.  It acts as a seal between the door and door frame.  I purchased mine from Ron Leonard here in the U.S.  My car, AEX734, is pretty original so if you need specific pictures to aid in your restoration just let me know.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca inner fender
« on: February 02, 2011, 20:24:28 »
Lew - Belated congratulations on your recent acquisition.  My Aceca has its original aluminum wire mesh stone guards mounted to its front inner fenders.  I would post a pic but my car is out for servicing.  If nobody posts anything in the next two weeks I will do so when I get it back.

   Enjoy!

Gus - Thanks for the link to your great photos.  I was there on Saturday and Sunday as well and had pretty much the same itinerary as you, although for me it was only a 3 hour car ride to get there.  Just an incredible event.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Rubber seal tailgate
« on: May 02, 2010, 15:59:52 »
Stephan,

Please see the attached photos of the rubber seal for my Aceca's rear hatch.  On my car, the seal has been applied to the body of the car, not the hatch itself.  I'm not sure if this is correct but that is how it has been done on my car.  As far as profile, the material itself is 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick.  Hope this is helpful.

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the club!  Where in the Bay Area are you located?  I know someone out at Infineon in Sonoma that can probably help you out.  By the way, you're in good company having an Aceca in the Bay Area.  There are two in Santa Rosa (mine and a friend's), one in Point Reyes, and likely another in Windsor.  Considering there were only around 300 built, that's a pretty impressive number!  Feel free to email me at gsb1159@pacbell.net and I will give you the contact information.

   Best,

   Greg
