New AC(s) / New Owner?!
« on: March 06, 2012, 18:16:49 »
I can't believe no one has posted this up on the site!

Article gives some pretty punchy statements:

1.) A rather nice looking new AC / Zagato collaboration

   2.) AC Ace resurrected

3.) New management team assuming control?!

The AC 378 GT Zagato, aka the Perana Z-One, is produced in South Africa by Hi-Tech Automotive.  I'm surprised that they would want to get close to Mr. Lubinsky and friends again...

I didn't post it up cos I wasn't supposed to know about it ;) So I can keep a secret - whoda thought? Now I can breathe again....and note the addition of the variations of the MkII (Cobra to its friends)

I got the impression the Perana wasn't selling too well due to a lack of brand awareness or whatever the expression is. I guess an AC badge is better than nothing? Time, as always, will tell.

So what about the new leadership? Did Lubinsky sell?

So, did they simply repaint the ol' blue MkVI roadster red, or did they actually build a second car?

Methinks they've stolen a page from Carroll Shelby's handbook on how to promote your new car company...  Just keep repainting the same car over and over again, so people think the production line is churning 'em out.

From what I've read, the model range is:

AC Mk VI built by Gullwing in Germany

AC 378 Zagato built by Hi-Tech in South Africa for £89,990 (with composite body??)

AC Mk II built by AC Heritage at Brooklands

AC Ace Classic built by AC Heritage for under £50,000 with 4 cylinder engine (Will this have an aluminium or composite body?)

AC Ace Bristol Zagato built by AC Heritage.

Cars to be sold by 3 UK dealers.

I shall be attending the show on Monday and will of course be visiting the AC stand. (Report in April's ACtion.)
Is anyone else visiting the show?

It would be nice as the AC Company has some new people running it to see if we could once more have the use of the logo for the club, there is significant benifit to the AC Company in having continuity as well as the club, maybe you could do some sounding out during your visit!

Robin, I agree, but I can also see AC's point. There is a lot of negativity on the forum regarding current AC affairs... legitimate or not...

AC Mk II is also built by Hi Tech in Port Elizabeth with composite body. You will able to order an alloy version from AC Heritage

What better way for the 'new management' to begin the resurrection of AC than by allowing their closest association use of the logo again?
