Thanks Roger. I was going to leave it a little longer then explain but you have saved me that.
I did a short piece for a general car club magazine but maybe not the sort of thing for ACtion.

I bought another AC at auction last Saturday. The plan is to run it this summer until my 16/66 restoration is completed, hopefully sooner rather than later, this year. I then intend spending time on my new purchase through winter.

There is a very attractive AC to be auctioned on the 10th of April by H&H In Buxton. Hope the link is successful.

The guys in the spares department seem to hold quite a few “vices” :-[

You sound like the man building the body for my 16/66. He always has something more important to do rather than my body. >:(
Keep at it though Gary, remember, a thing of beauty is a joy for ever.

Hello everyone,
Does anyone out there have a left spinner (right hand thread)going spare.
Used sat on a shelf wasting away, curled corners, tarnished chrome, no chrome is not a problem so long as it is usable. It is required to hold the spare wheel on.
The four I have are in a very poor state but usable so later in the resto they will all be renewed.
That said if there are any out there that are a reasonable set then I would be interested.

A very kind gentleman on the VSCC forum has posted a link on their forum which give a comprehensive article from an old Motor Engineering publication. It is acceptable through the Bertram Hill website in the Technical tab. It is far superior to anything I could do regards an article for ACtion.
Tried a link but not sure if successful. http://www.bertram-hill.com/vintage-and-pvt-information.html

I can’t remember if it is this club but I think the lady that deals with it is best contacted by phone and a message left. I may be wrong so please don’t be put out if I am wrong, I often am.

As it happens I am doing occasional reports on the progress made for ACtion.
I will see what I can come up with specifically for the brakes. Now is a good time for your suggestion as I plan to do the brakes next week so can make notes.

I have managed to get a hold of some useful information through the VSCC. That along with the information I already have should be enough to complete the rebuild.

Have a happy and prosperous new year

Colin.

Seasons greetings fellow AC er’s.

I have reached the point of building up the brakes on my 1935 16/66 rebuild. Sadly the copy of the manual I have is very poorly copied and unreadable. I would like to get hold of a legible copy. Can anyone suggest where to get one, I believe the club reprints only do the handbooks which don’t go into as much depth. My searches on the web have proved fruitless.

Thanks in anticipation,

Colin

Hope you have a worm garage. I do love using the cars but it is good to faff with them as well.

Hello Guss
There is a lot of information about maintenance in the hand book, see action magazine if you want to order.
There were three different options of gearbox, ratios below.
                           Top.           Third.         Second.        First.
Synchromesh ... 4.66 : 1.      6.25 : 1.      9.85 : 1.       16.8 : 1
Sports.          ... 4.66 : 1.      6.4.  ; 1.      9.3.  : 1.       17.7 : 1
Competition
Sports.          ... 4.25 : 1.      5.82 : 1.      8.98 : 1.        15.3 : 1

I would imagine that the ratios quoted are through the differential but sadly I don’t have that information. It is commonplace for top gear to be 1 : 1 in the gearbox.

I can’t see anything to indicate what the 22CH would reference.
