General Forum / Re: FBHVC 2020 Enthusiast Survey
« on: July 21, 2020, 10:16:37 »
I want to be able to help them and support the cause (having 4 historic vehicles, and also the AC), but not comfortable in filling in the details they are wanting,  what is the vehicle?, where is it kept?, how much is it worth?, what security does it have? ...………  they will most likely be storing the IP address used to fill this in, and so it is a hop, a skip and a jump to be able to find the motors, should they suffer a cyber attack or similar. I might have another look and leave out those details, but then the response will likely be of limited value...….

It has been very quiet recently, but it is generally a forum where quality overrides quantity.
I have been active on various forums for other marques over the years, and they had much more inane chatter, which gets tiring and Cliquey  after a while. Also harder to search the archives to find the technical info.

I would suggest it is better to have the list within the members area, and one person keeping it updated and accurate.

This has been raised a few times I think, the registrar  holds a list I think (This should be complete and available to club members, not open to the public),  I would suggest submitting info on parts and sources to the registrar.

Good tip from Keith. Hope you are one of the lucky one's with working ecu and hydraulic pump.
/Paho

The ECU is unique to these, but a 306 one used the same blank unit. I have someone who has designed a new ECU, currently under development...... let me know if interested.

I have repaired two chips the other day, and done many more over past few years, using the kits like this:
https://www.frost.co.uk/car-care-clean-detail/automotive-windscreen-tools/glass-chip-repair-kit.html

You can also get them from other shops.

If repaired, then it will stop it getting worse, and can always replace later.

My insurances all have an excess for chip repairs, so cheaper to buy these kits and fix as needed.

Not sure, but I can certainly test that out on mine and confirm.........

So, the ‘Star’ reader only seems to do diagnostics with engine running.
I also have a small code reader, Equus 3007, ECM Code Reader, which reads both ign on, and also with engine running,  ut i am not sure if this is the right reader for these cars, it says for Ford 1981 onwards.

I have just found this thread, which may be handy?

I have the unit that was used to test the cars at the factory, before they went out, it is a Ford branded Rotunda unit. Hand-held and in a case. Also I have the codes definitions etc. Etc .........

Hi, PM sent, but I have a fault code reader for these, happy to plug it in, just a question of logistics,  but we may be able to sort something out.

General Forum / Re: Do I need to declare my Vehicles as VHI ?
« on: June 07, 2018, 10:35:06 »
Vehicles that are already MOT exempt: no action required.

Vehicles that would, after 20th May,  fall in to the age bracket now set have two options:

Do nothing and continue to require an MOT

Declare VHI, if it meets the criteria,
              at the point or retaxing
Or by filling in the V 112 form .
