The first LeMans Ace, AE205, as documented in the latest ACtion, just sold at Bonhams Monterey auction for $764K all in. I saw this car go thru the restoration at Gassman Automotive, and they did an absolutely amazing job of bringing it back to LeMans spec. A well deserved price, and a record for an AC?

Certainly not a record for an AC, IF a Shelby Cobra is considered an AC, as it is by some! That accolade would be Carroll Shelby's Cobra (CSX3015) that went for $5.5 million (and that was the hammer price!) a couple of years back.

Then there is CSX 2000 that sold for $ 13.750.000 some years ago.

But as far as Ace’s go I imagine it’s the most expensive one ever sold. I have heard rumours that
some Ace’s have changed hands with dealers for very high amounts, close to the figures that AE 205 brought. But that was including a guaranteed Mille Miglia entry.

I should have specified AC Ace! Obviously Cobras/Daytonas sell for more ::)
