Yes!

That is terrible news...A real loss to the racing and AC community.  Does anyone know where his ACE ended up?  I would love to kepp track of her as a sister car to mine.

   Sad,
   Rob

Shep -

Unless I missed something, Adrian is still very much with us.  This accident was just last year.  Did he pass away?  If so, I am terribly sad.  As most of you know, I own his former ACECA.  My car and his ACE wear twin livery.

Please tell me this is not so!

Gus -

Do you want me to give him a call?

Rob -

I am in the Bay Area too.  Hillsborough.
There are currently 5 ACECA's in the greater Bay Area that I know of.  Some not running yet I believe.  There are a few Ace's as well.

I would definitely love to get a drive up to Alice's going in the spring.

   Cheers,
   Rob

I actually bought a car from Wayne.
The car and transaction were featured in one of his episodes - Fiat Multipla.  Hilariously fun little car.
Actually looking to sell it in the spring.
Great show for all vintage car lovers.
   Cheers,
   Rob

No too terribly bad for an original condition car, with the less desirable engine and a manufacturing year that is not that desitable.

Thanks Graham.

Yes, it is too late for 2013.  Hence my preparatory work for a possible entry next year.

I look forward to hearing from others.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / ACECA Door Latches - PLEASE HELP!
« on: January 12, 2013, 01:53:13 »
Luke et al,

Thanks for the great info and pictures.

Time to pull the buggers out and first do a thorough inspection and lube.
If it still doesn't hold tight, time to do a little of the "F" word - fabrication.

I will advise of my progress or lack there of.

   Happy New Year everyone!

   Cheers,
   Rob

All -

I have just spoken to Nigel to bring him up to speed on this thread and also what I have been working on here.  He is VERY keen to understand the specific issues and has become aware of the main issue of our discussion.

He is in the process of designing a MKII version which would mirror the original design in providing a male threaded end instead of a a female threaded core.

In the mean time, he has also been using a tabbed washer to hold the bolt in place.

Like the good chap he is, he has offered to send me his MKII version when completed FOC and swap out my MKI version.

In the mean time, I am also sending him some additional design input to deal with a few other issues that we have found...including chamfering etc.

I just wish he used email and the internet!

I will be sending the pictures I have of the shafts as they are and also the fix we have created to Nick who has graciously offered to help.

   More to come...Rob
