The following information on CSX3016 was relayed to me and I was asked to post it here.
"After Grossman's wreck at Watkins Glen, the damaged complete car was acquired by his mechanic who removed the damaged portions of the body, repaired the frame tubes and then installed a '37 Chevy body to race it primarily on dirt tracks. It still even retained some of the original Cobra body in this configuration and still had the 427 engine, Halibrand wheels, original gauges, suspension, etc. Upon sale a few years later, the engine was removed and the car sat in the back of the new owners house for decades, where it suffered decay, but nonetheless it was acquired as a complete vehicle and the owner’s intention was to someday rebuild/restore the car with a new Cobra body, ie; it was not “parted out in ‘66â€."
