Hi Tom,

   Attached photo of our engine.
Electrics are CAV and we have a 3 wire dynamo.

Thank you John,

As to your starter, it depends on which Anzani you have fitted to your car.  I have the big Anzani and all of my electrics are CAV.  In consideration of your head and sidelights and the CAV panel on your dashboard I would assume you have the big engine and CAV electrics???

I have just looked at my car and cannot see any numbers on the starter and I am afraid the spares list is not any more illuminating only listing it as '12799 Electric Starter CAV'.  The number is of course an AC number as they numbered every part of the car!!  I will dig a little further into my archive and see if I can find a model number.

   All the best,
   Tom

Ok, so I finally found the photo of a framed photo on a hotel wall in Tarvin:

...But unfortunately, unless the registration number has changed, it's not yours! Enhancing the numberplate looks like XW 8513 to me:

Must be a different car then.
Thanks for the info on starters.

Crankcase - I'll get some photo's of bonnet and post on here.

The last owner was John Davies who owned the FORD dealership in Holywell ?
Don't know when last run and engine has gone off to local specialist for strip and overhaul. So far so good in that the engine was turning freely and the bores are not lipped. So general overhaul and freshen up should see it sorted though I am looking for a starter motor and don't know what I'm looking for so anyone out there who knows please put me on the right path !
Also the the original carburetor is missing which I guess should be a Claudel Hobson ? Again anyone who knows or can supply let me know.
The car is generally quite sound in that it has been dry stored. All of the main cabin interior has rotted out but the ash frame is generally pretty good all things considered. We have replaced a couple of the cross bracings and the rear wooden fire wall (behind the front seat) with white oak and 6mm ply. This has all been glued and screwed into place prior to lifting body off chassis. Some repair and replacement needed to timber that is chassis mounted under the Dickie seat but overall no major, major rot found.
Already sourced replacement speedo and 8 day clock and just cracking on with the chassis and mechanicals for now. Ammeter (CAV) sent off for overhaul/rebuild but again anyone with a spare/replacement message me. Original colour appears to be Green even though logbook says blue ?
This isn't going to be a concours rebuild. Just planning on an overhaul, tidy up, back on the road and enjoy !

   Car Number is 30820

Hi,

Saw your post. Just recently begun restoring a 1925 Royal so any reference material is welcome. Happy to pay postage and make donation to charity of your choice.

   Regards,

Hi all,

Proceeding with the strip down and rebuild and I'm unsure how to proceed with the rear brake drum removal.
I have undone the large hub nut and can see that there is a pin thru the hub and half shaft. Do I drift out the pin and use a puller to remove the hub complete with the drum attached and off the half shaft or do I undo the hub flange retaining nuts (x 5)and pull the hub and half shaft out as there is more to be undone to release the drum ?

   Thanks in anticipation

   John

Just a quick post to say hello.

My son and I have acquired a 1925 AC Royal which is in need of some TLC.
It is a 4 owner car originally sold in Chester and has remained around the Wirral and North Wales all of it's life.

   Will post pictures soon
