Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aces in Sept Auctions
« on: September 06, 2015, 21:39:05 »
You're right, yes it did:

   http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23127/lot/8/

Interestingly the same car sold by Bonhmas at the Quail in Aug 2013 for $286k, said to be 256k euro at the time.

   https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20994/lot/170/

Of course currency movements can distort things, but its roughly +50K Euro in 2 years, or +20%. Considering what has been happening in the overall Classic market thats pretty average I would say......

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca prices
« on: August 19, 2015, 17:16:43 »
Its clearly a popular price point, as for exactly the same £ you can have:

As AE1170 was sold at Bonhams 2 months ago for £141.5k, its an interesting dealer mark up!

In the current Classic Car pricing frenzy, nothing should surprise....

Perhaps not directly relevant, but just shows what can be done at what cost.
Finally got the screen back and on the car today on AE01 after 3 months. Total cost <£350 as an Ins job.
BUT and this is the thing, it was a one off special made curved screen (Pilkington), and the guys at Nat Windscreens stripped it, refitted the new glass, and re-sealed with new rubbers, and re-fitted to the car etc. a superb job.
Personally I would want a professional to do all that, just in case, oh and cost for a flat screen should be a lot less....

Wonderful stuff, an extended Zerk...Could have been something out of Startrek!
   Good photos though.

Keith, thanks, yes its a thought but not sure anything so similar appeared on the Toj. The original press shots of the car show it looking pretty much like any normal Ace, but with a flat screen of course.
How different are the underbody mounts in the last 2 pics to standard? You can see they are just forward of the upper door mounting point.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Number Plate Light
« on: March 27, 2015, 20:49:05 »
Barry, you may know of these people.....they offer a very wide range of quality old car lighting, inc kits for Ace and Cobra. Whilst I cannot see the light unit you are referring to they are very knowledgeable and might be able to point you in the right direction!

Hi again Dale, in my haste I forgot to add that this is all we have on the register for the car, so if you can add anything that would be good for future records. If you need any of the below deciphering, let me know. Many thanks, AlexG

Hi Dale, I would try Rod Briggs, advert in Action, or just go to:
   http://www.ac-6.co.uk/
What Rod doesn't have on AC engines probably isn't worth having!
   Good luck, AlexG

ACOC News and Events / Silverstone Classic 2015
« on: February 09, 2015, 23:17:25 »
2 years ago there was some kind of club discount available to members attending the Classic generally. I seem to remember there was an ad in Action quoting a code to use? Does anyone know if that is the same this year please?

Aces are still undervalued! True. Just look at what is going on in the quality classic world around us eg Aston's, Ferraris, MB, etc. I remember visiting a Ferrari dealer on my sons 21st birthday 6 years ago( not to buy I hasten to add!). There were 2 288 GTO's, amongst others, there at the time for a bit under £250k ea. They are now £1m + and even towards £1.5m. DB5's 6 years ago perhaps £200k? Now £500k
More directly, Aces have for as long as I can remember been about half that of Cobras. Not now, the gap has widened to nearer 3x.
Check out this site, put in whatever make/ model you want and it will give all the auction results, interesting stuff.
