Looking for a 289 picture with Steve McQueen
« on: November 30, 2009, 13:57:17 »
Hi,

this weekend I say a picture of a 289 with open bonnet and a Steve McQueen benning over the engine bay. In the background on the other street side there is a Chevrolet dealer. Does anybody know this picture?

I do not think of this one here:

It is in the "McQueen's Machines" and I have seen it elsewhere. Remember, Google is your friend!!

Also remember, Steve never actually BOUGHT a Cobra, he just "test drove" them!!!!

Hi Mark IV,

Google is my best friend (I found the above picture via Google) but I didn't find the picture I am looking for.

The search teached me that McQueen never owned a Cobra nevertheless it is a really nice picture of Mr. Cool and it would look great in my garage [:)]

Do you really need SPURS to control such few Horses.???

Bet they play havoc on the carpet or ali floor panels.

Last but not least.... ..... Quite a weapon strapped to his leg!

Could only be Steve McQueen.  [:)]

Just a little maintenance on his XK SS while filming his TV show "Wanted Dead or Alive" (OR maybe he's cooking lunch!)

The sidearm is a sawed off Winchester carbine he used on this show rather than the normal six shooter. Gave him 12 shots rather than 6 to get the bad guys?

Now I'm showing my age. I believe the XK was in an auction within the last couple years.

McQueen's XKSS is currently owned by the Petersen Museum in L.A., I believe. Nice car, have seen it inperson at several shows.

And I used to love his show!

This one contains the above picture and some thoughts of Mr. Cool about Vettes and Cobras, Aston Martin and Jags.
