Am thinking of renewing the wires on my 428. Looking at various options such as Borrani and MWS. Any advice or recommendations?

Cifford I can highly recommend MWS ( motor wheel services ) as I have been using them for many years. The wheels seem to be generally of good quality and realistically priced plus they normally have all sizes in stock. I believe they can also supply Borrani wires ( although I might be out of date on this situation ) but they are horrendously expensive. PS hope the handbook was useful !

Bit late, but just to say the MWS wheels are excellent - I have their stainless wires (stainless rim, spokes and hub centre) and they are still immaculate after 6 years and 10,000 miles.  So easy to clean - they're so smooth, they hardly pick up any dirt.  Much better than the old chrome ones.

Of course you could try Dayton Wire wheel in the US. Stainless, true and guaranteed never needing truing. Plus they can run tubeless tires. I used them for my Aceca and Ace. Set of 5 wheels, about $1800.

A few years ago, I bought a set of Dayton aluminum rims with stainless hubs and wires, awesome wheels, I think they were 7 1/2 width. Jeffrey is using them now. They look just like Borranies for a lot less money. Years ago I bought a set of stainless wheels for my brother's E-Type  and he loved them.
   
   I highly recommend them!

Years ago we bought some 8" MWS wheels for Keith Erskine's 428. We fitted Avon tyres designed for the Bentley Turbo R, they were Turbo Steel I think, about 255 65 15 section and not cheap, but wow did they look good. They filled the arches without looking out of place, and the ride and grip was excellent. There is a photo of the car on 85568-ac428-by-frua-classic-car@fotolibra.com. Lovely and moody in silver backed by a poppy field. If I understood how to capture the image and paste it on this post, I would! Andy.

Suffering from some confusion. MWS recommend 195 60 R15 or 205 70 R15 for the Frua.
   Longstone recommends 205 VR15 particularly it's own pirelli cinturatos but with same size Avon textile as an alternative.
   
   Owners all suggest 215 plus with Avons popular the ultimate being CR6 ZZ 215/70 but these require 6.5pm rims which MWS do not offer.
   
   Currently running Avons 235 rear, 225 up front.
   
   Further advice needed.
