Hello I'm a new member and have owned AK 1085 for a number of years.  Does anyone know the previous owners or the original dealer?  It is a 302 carburetor car and needs a new throttle cable.  Has anyone bought parts from AC recently?  They have quoted me a price for Spax shocks and front ball joints.  Thanks.  Paul

Hi Paul,
I have not bought parts from AC recently. But if you are in the UK I can strongly recommend "Big Al" Alan Smith of Thunder Road near Woking in Surrey. Given their proximity to Brooklands they know and work with many of the original work force from the Autocraft days. They specialize in AC and know every nut and bolt on them. Thunder Road maintain and provide race support to some of the famous racing Cobras and know the models well, from early Cobras through to MkIV's. They have modified and maintained my MkIV for some years and I find it very reassuring being able to talk to a specialist who really knows how the cars are put together.
   Thunder Road's number is (UK) 01483 7633991.
   Regards - John

PS: Other than as a (happy) customer, I have no connection with the company.
PPs: I also suggest you order a clutch cable at the same time as they have to be made up to fit a right hand drive MkIV and it takes time to get one made.

Hi Paul, According to the 1997 version of the Shelby American World Registry, which includes some info on AC MKIV cars, your car was completed in 1985, was finished in green exterior and saddle interior, came with a 302 4V engine and was shipped to Clinton Ford in North Clinton NJ. As of the printing of the Registry, the present/former owners of the car were not known. You should contact the AC MKIV registrar on this list, Alan Faulkner-Stevens, and might want to update the SAAC for their new registry. The MKIV registrar is Karl Sauer, email address is cobra4guy@aol.com, I believe.  Hope this helps. John

Dear Paul, I have checked the Club records to see your original Owners Club application form and details you gave on your car is the most information we hold about the car. This is of course apart from the Factory build info we have a copy of. Would you be able to give me an update on the cars plus some photographs for the Registry? It would be greatly appreciated and very helpful. My e-mail address is faulknerstevens@btinternet.com if you wish to contact me by this method, best wishes
