Hi Gary, I have only just seen your post. The Forum is no indication of who will book on the 2020 Classic Me Mans trip. I have confirmed our bookings with the 2 previous chateaux, and will be happy for someone to take over the project by organising the ferry tickets and entry tickets. Perhaps if you are interested you should come to the ACOC Council Meeting at the Kings Head Pub in Westmorland Street, London W1G 8PJ at 19.00hrs on Thursday 18th July, and Keith and I can fill in the details. In previous years you wanted to travel Dover-Calais instead of Portsmouth-Caen, and you wanted to camp and not stay in the chateaux so we will need to review the plans for 2020. Maybe there is a case for 2 packages, but personally I will certainly prefer to stick to the previous format of ferry and chateau. Please let me know if you are still interested, and I suggest that an advert the ACtion magazine will give a much better idea of numbers than the Forum. Cheers, Andy.

Hi Matthew,
My 428 is sitting in the garage at the moment with a seized clutch and a slight water leak from the header tank. I really must pull it out and get it running for the summer. Longer term, the magnolia interior is looking a bit tired and would benefit from some attention, and years ago we converted the hubs to run Halibrand alloy wheels in place of the wire wheels. I really should return it to the wires. and then the paintwork is OK but showing signs of age so perhaps some work will be required in 4 or 5 years time.
Cheers, Andy.

Sorry, but I don't have anything much to add. There is a RHD Convertible which may be coming up for sale, but nothing LHD to my knowledge. Happy hunting! Andy.

Speaking to Ian Bullen-Bell at the Dinner Dance, he kindly offered to co-ordinate a display of AC cars at Hampton Court on Sept 6-7th 2019. Any AC owners who would like to take part on either or both days, please let Ian or me know so your name goes on the list, as we already have 3 interested ACOC Members. Many thanks, Andy.

General Forum / ACOC Dinner Dance 2nd March 2019
« on: March 03, 2019, 12:29:09 »
Thanks to the 90 ACOC members and their guests who made last evening at the Elvetham Hotel such an enjoyable event. This year we were celebrating the 70th anniversary of the AC Owners' Club, and 60th anniversary of Ted Whiteaway and John Turner finishing 7th overall in their AC Ace Bristol at the Le Mans 24 hour race. Trisha Whiteaway and her daughter Cat brought copies of their Book on Ted Whiteaway, and shared previously unseen photos from the late 50's and Early 60's.  John Deveson who owns the Ace was also there to celebrate.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Club's competitions, and the annual raffle and auction (this year a beautiful gents wristwatch hand crafted and donated by Paul Eaton) raised £1583 in aid of this year's charity, Cancer Research. The disco lasted into the small hours with a full floor well after midnight. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and made their way safely home.

Dear Members we have received an invitation to join the annual Classic Car Event at Hampton Court. I am looking for someone who would be prepared to coordinate our group, and anyone else who would like to attend. Please can you send me a private message, or to my email address which is listed in ACtion or on the main ACOC Website.

Don't worry, we are not being asked to join the Coucours, just to display our cars on either Saturday, Sunday, or both.

Dear Mr Shepherd,

The Concours of Elegance would like to extend an invitation to the AC Owners Club to participate at this year’s event.

Hampton Court Palace will be the wonderful setting for the Concours which takes place from 6-8 September 2019.

Now in its 8th year the event was recognised at the recent Historic Motoring Awards as the ‘Motoring Event of the Year’.

A Concours of 60 cars has been the trademark of the event since 2012, in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. And once again 60 of the world’s rarest cars will be invited to take part.

As in previous years the following options are available to the Club:

Car Club Displays
We would be delighted to welcome AC Owners Club Members to display their cars in The Great Fountain Gardens of Hampton Court Palace on either Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th September. Members cars will need to be parked in position by 9.30am and remain in place until 6.00pm. There will be a small cost per car of £25 (which includes admission for the Driver) and any passengers/guests will be offered discount admission tickets for £25 (reduced from £40). Places are strictly limited and we would ask the Club to give an early indication of numbers.

General Forum / Re: E10 Fuel Consultation and Survey
« on: August 19, 2018, 19:11:14 »
Currently it is possible to buy racing fuel at 99 octane. It costs over £4.00 per litre, but if the demand went up significantly perhaps the price would come down? Then there are all the light aircraft which use 100 octane fuel, what will happen to them? I had to put a couple of gallons of standard 94 in my Porsche 964 as the only garage for miles had no Super Unleaded. The engine ran like a bag of spanners, and I limped the 50 miles to the next garage, and filled it with 98 Octane. Bingo it ran sweet as a nut again. I suggest as many people as possible fill in this survey to demonstrate the need for the existing fuels. Andy.

We have been approached by Mike Taylor, who writes the article "Life Cycle" in Classic Cars Magazine. He is looking for a nice AC which he can feature. The exercise will involve identifying and interviewing previous owners, particularly the original one, for their experiences and photos of the car during their ownership. Anyone interested please let me know either here or private message. Cheers, Andy.

ACOC News and Events / 2018 Prize giving and Dinner Dance
« on: March 11, 2018, 20:34:21 »
Last night 10th March 2018, 96 ACOC members and their guests sat down to marvelous Dinner Dance at the beautiful Elvetham Hotel near Hartley Wintney in Hampshire. Following complimentary Prosecco pre-dinner drinks, the ACOC party filled the library restaurant. This year's nominated Charity was Prostate Cancer Research in memory of John Davison, and the auction of a gold and diamond AC pendant, skillfully created and generously donated by Paul and Jacqui Eaton, and our usual raffle raised £2000.00!! All the ACOC prize winners from the various events during 2017 were presented with their trophies and keepsakes, and the dance floor was full until 01.00 on Sunday morning. The usual suspects continued the festivities into the bar for a couple more hours. In the morning the sun was shining, and after a hearty breakfast everyone could make their way home to celebrate Mothers' Day. Great fun was had by all, and many thanks to The Elvetham, and of course all the ACOC members and their guests who made the event such a success. Andy Shepherd, Chairman ACOC.

Hi Baz, I don't see any replies but you appear to have received help. Do you now have the necessary information? I presume there is a Mk IV owners handbook, although I don't have one myself. If you are stuck let me know and I will contact other members who perhaps have not seen your post. All the best, Andy.

ACOC News and Events / Club Secretary
« on: December 08, 2017, 23:14:29 »
Thanks Gary,

As you know, I have replied to your similar email comments which you sent to me direct. John Davison did a marvellous job, and organised the annual ACOC AGM, as well as taking minutes at all the monthly Council of Management meetings which he then circulated. He liaised with the MSA and advised on the implementation of their rules and regulations. He communicated with other Classic Car clubs and associations, and kept the Council up to date with the Club's legal responsibilities.

The Club is looking for a new Club Secretary, and any interested volunteers are most welcome to contact me by direct email, or by private message via this forum. Candidates will need to be members of the ACOC and would benefit from a knowledge of both the AC Marque, and Company/Club procedure.

   Many thanks, Andy.

ACOC News and Events / AC Heritage on awards shortlist
« on: November 27, 2017, 11:03:34 »
My dream is for the younger generation to drive the various AC models, and through the ACOC to carry on the good work started by us old codgers. There are several younger enthusiasts who already come along to ACOC events, and I hope this will grow and assure the future of the Club. All younger members are most welcome to become involved and their input will be much appreciated.
