General Forum / ACOC National Day 75th anniversary
« Last post by dsjw1 on Today at 05:42:26 »
What an incredible weekend! It was so nice to meet so many of you who I know only through this forum or AC Action articles. Kudos to Leo Archibald and his tireless efforts for the events, the likes of which apparently haven’t been seen previously. 85 people at the dinner that was first class. Priest House was a great location perhaps only rivaled by Great Northern Classics for the show itself. Unfortunately I only got to preview the show for a short time as I had a pre-determined date with a Leeds United disappointing loss at Wembley but got to see incredible cars in a fantastic setting. Just a few folks that I recall meeting of course Leo and his lovely wife Resa, Mike Smith, John Spencer, Bertie, Barrie Bird, Andy Shepherd, Russ Swift, Colin and Wendy Naish, Norman Burr, Mike Berrisford, Rob Tojeiro, Kevin Schilling and I know there were many others. It was a long trip from the US but it was inspiring and makes me want to be more active with the club. It has a very sound foundation with so many passionate members who care. Learning the clubs history was also eye opening to me.  Thanks again my friends for an unforgettable weekend!

General Forum / Re: ACOC Facebook page
« Last post by dsjw1 on Today at 05:22:20 »
Terry wish we could have found time to discuss this last weekend. It flew by didn’t it? Facebook in my opinion has significantly more traffic than this forum at least as it relates to our Buckland page. I know some folks don’t subscribe to social media but that’s where it’s at imo. Perhaps there’s a way to cross post to have it in both places? The ACOC Instagram page has been more active in last year. The ACOC Facebook page may as well not exist.it is way out of date.  I’m active in several associations using social media and they’re not all evil I promise. It may be a way to further reach our next generation of potential members if administrated correctly and frequently. Thanks!

General Forum / Rare 1936 16/70 Drop Head Coupe available
« Last post by Guitarrero on May 30, 2024, 10:33:52 »
I’m posting on behalf of Thelma Grose, partner of the late Frank Ashley, just to let club members and fellow AC enthusiasts know that Frank’s beautifully original 1936 16/70 DHC is now available and is looking for a good home.
The car will be well known to many members as Frank and Thelma participated in numerous club events, rallies and tours over the years. It has only 37,000 original documented miles on the clock and has just had a comprehensive engine rebuild and recommissioning and is still running in.

The car is with Robin Lawton and he would be very happy to answer your enquiries, so if you are interested, or even just curious, then please do give him a call … details below.

Many thanks,
Steve

(Admins - I hope this post is okay? … just trying to help out Thelma :-)

Hi Ian,
I have an original 16/80 exhaust manifold, with the silencer chambers attached.
It most unlikely I'll ever need it so, drop me a line.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Rear Wishbone Suspension Rubbers
« Last post by Adrian_J on May 29, 2024, 14:10:13 »
Does anyone know the donor vehicle for the metal cored rubber suspension bushes used throughout the rear wishbone assembly please? I have been researching a few Ford, Jag and Volvo possibilities, but find most adverts don't specify dimensions, rather they just detail applicable vehicle models. Nominal dimensions are overall length 44.6mm, 'seated' length 35.0mm, 'barrel' diameter 32.5mm, 'end caps' diameter 39.5mm, metal 'crush tube' bore 12mm. Superflex offer a universal shock absorber eye SF0415 which is the closest I found so far, but you need to buy SF469-0137T crush tubes separately. This works out to be tad expensive when re-bushing the complete suspension! An oem part would be preferred.

 Stephen (BEX288 ) and Flying Horse   (BE640)

Just re read this thread,   Goes back to 2012.....

As stated earlier,  On my BEX333 I installed the Oil Temperature bulb into the top of the Dog Bone.
Original Thread started by Stephen in 2012,    With  valuable help / advice from Barrie Bird,, I hope Stephens BEX288 has been  clocking up the miles / kilometres, and Flying Horse  (Aceca  BE640) is a separate new  problem which is about to be resolved.
Hopefully  you both have working Oil Temperature gauges and  are knocking up enjoyable miles / Kilometres .

Cheers for Now
Keith

Thanks-I’ll follow up.  It contains diethyl ether.
I also found this so possible to do it yourself but fiddly
