The units mounted above the vents are "repeaters" for the UK/Euro market. Us cars got the side marker lamp mounted below the vent. BTW, the amber and red lamps are from the 1969 Corvette and I used to supply them to Autokraft.

The "Power by Ford" emblems could be installed as a factory option but most are owner installed. We use 3M moulding tape after removing the mounting studs so no holes are required.

Similar, you can check diffand trans  with little finger if it is sensitive enough, you should fell fluid just below fill hole. Motor dipsticks have been known to br incorrect lengths....check engine Mfg./ pan supplier and oil cooler rad( if fitted) and determine correct fill  level in litres. Put that amount in , start engine, shut down for  couple minutes to allow bleed down, put dipstick in ,pull out and scribe a full make and consider a permanent marker on it as well.

A file mark across the correct level is good thing to quote Martha Stewart....

I have shipped to several people for whom the seller will not ship. If I can help let me know.

JBo's point is well taken. The idea of low miles use not requiring oil changes seems logical but in truth is opposite of such. Oil has corrosion inhibiters to prevent rust and rings sticking, etc. Low miles use means the oil does not get to operating temperature enough to "boil off" moisture and combustion by products. These then sit for long periods of time and do harm to the engine. Actually running oil in excess of the recommended change interval is likely less harmful than leaving low mile oil to sit for a year or better so long as the level is sufficient.

When you store a vehicle do not start it for a couple of minutes and then shut if off to sit for months. You have just circulated moisture and corrosive materials throughout the engine! Unless you can bring it to full temperature for 15 minutes or better you are ahead NOT starting it!

I highly recommend "Extra Virgin" if not at least "first pressing"!!!!

And good Balsamic will keep your chassis going for years!

But anyone who tries to outrun the Feds in a transporter with a (genuine) Daytona Coupe flying around inside, can't be all bad.... :)

   TL,

Possibly still some same parts of Larry are left in the car!

You don't F with those guys....bad things man, bad things!

Two point for the first UK post who knows where that is from.......

As to the idea that the AC 289 sports proves the 80's Mustang 302 will fit in the MK IV with no crossmember mods, the 289 sports did not have the double sump pan that the Mustang uses.

Even the chassis is a shortened 428 part and this is why the cross members are in slightly different locations than on the MKIII and that the track is wider! (428 rear uprights) No evolution there, straight Thames Ditton.  Still the 4" tube chassis as well. Later models post BA have a different chassis but that's another story.
I would buy another early MKIV if I found a nice one. Could install a modern Mustang modular OHC engine with all smog gear, it would make an awesome California legal car.

The cross members are located differently than a MK III due to the needs of the 5.0 engine, the sump used and the catalytic convertors that needed to be packaged in the car. As well as the transmission mount being in a different spot than the top loader.

While there is some Frua DNA in the MK IV, it is NOT a "shortened MK IV!" For whatever reason you didn't like your MK IV, many do. Many would also question your "redesign" of the Frua. You are making a great car out of it but it will no longer be what AC sold it as. Who is right? Everybody! It is yours and do with it what you will...............

CSX2287 belongs to Dr. Frederick Simeone and is normally on display at his museum located just outside the Philadelphia International Airport. The car is virtually unmolested from its racing days and I don't believe the good Doctor has any intention of "restoring" it. I have seen the car many times; it is in running condition and well cared for by the museum staff. If you are ever in Philly stop in to the museum; if you appreciate old race cars you will not be disapointed.

Not restored, but what happened to Phil Spector's door advertising? You know, the lettering that claimed "World Champion", "427" (yeah, I know) and "Speed record holder" that were painted on when Donna got the car?

They took the description word for word from the auction blurb.....and STILL claim it has Air Con!

I guess the shipping damage does not constitute "never painted"............

The "Cobra" logos were added after the MK IV left the works, commonly by the dealer or customer. As stated while Ford granted use of the "Cobra" trademark we could not use it in the US due to several reasons including inability to get the level of products liability insurance required by FoMoCo to do so.

Up to late 1986 I never saw engraved sill plates on a MK IV........

74
And despite the "Autokraft" logo on the boot, they insist it is "Auto Craft" in the description!

75
What modifications? I see NO evidence of Air Con....I think they took the thermactor pump to be an "A/C" compressor. I see no controls or vents in the cabin and I know Mike did not add air.
